The duck and the slingshot

Posted by Eynjel on her BLOG (friendster kada)

For the longest time, I finally decided to create a blog of my own. haha!

And since its my first blog, I’d like to share to you this wonderful story I got in my inbox just a few days ago. Here goes…

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents in their farm.

He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods.

He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target.

Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

As he was walking back he saw Grandma’s pet duck.

Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the
head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved!

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his
sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, ‘Sally, let’s wash the dishes’

But Sally said, ‘Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.’

Then she whispered to him, ‘Remember the duck?’

So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and
Grandma said, ‘I’m sorry but I need Sally to help make supper.’

Sally just smiled and said, ‘Well that’s all right because Johnny told me he
wanted to help’

She whispered again, ‘Remember the duck?’ So Sally went fishing and Johnny
stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sallys; he
finally couldn’t stand it any longer.

He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, ‘ Sweetheart, I know. You see,
I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love
you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a
slave of you.’
Thought for the day and every day thereafter?

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done… And the devil keeps
throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits,
hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.) …whatever it is…You need to know that
God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing.

He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that
you are forgiven. He’s just wondering how long you will let the devil make a
slave of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness;

He not only forgives you, but He forgets.

It is by God’s grace and mercy that we are saved.

Go ahead and make the difference in someone’s life today.

Share this and always remember:

God is at the window! :)

“Hey Tisoy”

since we moved here in the phil. when i was 4,. i didnt really care where i was or where i was gonna study,.

well,. what pisses me off, is when people shout out “HEY JOE”

or yell out “TISOY!”

they dont know that this is what pisses off most foreigners,.

it undermines my confidence,. especially when i was young,. its hard to face those kinds of things,

but now im okay, i got used to it, if someone crossess the line,. id piss em off too,.

but what i dont get is, why would you shout out, “hey joe!”, what does it mean? and why would the name BE joe??? was this guy joe the first ever foreigner to step on filipino soil? or did a guy named joe pissed off evryone, and seeing a foreigner, reminds you of joe? and the word “tisoy”, yea its obvious, im white, i look white,. shouting out that im tisoy wont change the fact that im white,. and why the hell would you shout out the obvious? you dont have to point it out, im mean, i stick out as the white dude,.

and shouting “hey joe!” or “tisoy!” just makes no sense,.

i mean,. when you go to foreign countries, they dont shout out, “oh look, an asian!” or “Pinoy“, and even if they did, wouldnt that be insulting???

and yes i cant deny that im big,. but why would you say “oh, hes too big” would you consider that maybe your too small? im eurasian,. which means im asian-european,. my mom is a filipina,. and my dads german,. german people are naturally big,. we are all big boned,.

calling me obese doesent help me,. i was in germany and they are bigger and taller,. there, i am chubby, but here, im obese,. whats that about?

one time in sm clark, i went down the jeep, some one shouted ” tabang tisoy!” i stopped and gave the finger to him,.

im proud of being half filipino, i have nothing against the filipinos,. but,. i just dont understand why some of us are making fun of foreigners?

one time in the airplane from germany going back to manila, i had a seat which was next to 2 filipinos, 3 infront and 3 behind me,. what i didnt like was since they thought that i was a complete foreigner, they felt free to insult me with the other filipinos,. i didnt want to talk tagalog,. because i knew that would be emabarassing for them,. but they crossed the line when they said,. “napaka gago naman ng kaatabi natin, naiwan nya yung bag nya, mkakalimutin lang talaga mga kano,.” i replied and said ” di ko po ito naiwan,. akala ko lang talaga na naipasok na ng stewardes,. kasi sbi nya sakin, sya daw ang bahala sa bag ko, kya wag mo akong tawagang tanga,.” and they shut up for the rest of the flight,. see isnt this bad for me? wouldnt you be arrogant coz of this?

but by the end of the day,. im okay,. coz there are more important things than me being insulted,. haha,. good post! haha lol,. comment on this please,.

i’m not like the others.
i don’t cower at the thought of losing the supposed “fame” that my passion brings
i will not let you take advantage of my love for this job, just so you could make me follow your orders blindly
i know what i am entitled to, and i am not afraid to fight for whatever it is
i am not passive, i notice everything that happens, all the things you say, the things you do
i see through your actions
i know your motives
i am aware of my capabilities and limitations
i will not let you take advantage of me and the gifts that i have
i will not let you use my weaknesses against me
i will not falter in my belief that the opinion of one represents the majority
i believe that that needs proof
i believe you don’t even have proof
i will not keep my mouth shut about the unfair treatment that i, or any of my past colleagues have endured
just for the sake of the job we love
one that we don’t even get enough compensation for
a fact that i never lie about
yes, oh yes
there were happy times
but they were spent doing what i love to do
playing good music
sharing a part of myself to everyone who happens to have the radio on
from monday to friday, ten in the morning to one in the afternoon
doing whatever i could for all these people i couldn’t even see
what made me unhappy
was the lack of appreciation
the lack of recognition
by the very people i worked with
sure
i didn’t mind
doing stuff not within my job description
and after all, not getting due credit
i didn’t mind
but that doesn’t mean i will let you do it
over and over
so
if you don’t need me
and you think
you can find someone better
[there always is]
then so be it.
i’m not like the others.
i will not let you break my spirit
infringe on my freedom to speak and think as a living being
act as my puppeteer
use me
or my gift
insult my intellect.
OWN UP.
STEP UP.
SHAPE UP.
that’s what i’m gonna do.
i’m not like the others.
I’M NOT LIKE YOU.
